A cleanroom is a controlled environment free from pollutants, dust, and other airborne particles. These rooms are sealed while work is being done and use advanced air filtration and dehumidification systems to achieve the perfect conditions.
An effective cleanroom solution is essential for a wide range of businesses, from producing cosmetic products to keeping antiques cars safe. However, all cleanroom solutions vary, so knowing which one is best for your needs is essential before you commit.
Don’t worry, we’re here to help.
Most people don’t need a cleanroom in their back garden, but they’re incredibly important in a number of industries. These include:
In all of these industries, products, parts, and even materials have to be kept in specific environments to ensure their safety and effectiveness. For example, when assembling a smartphone, dust particles can damage the small, exposed parts. This can lead to faults in individual products or even entire batches being ruined.
A cleanroom environment needs to be free from dust and other airborne pollutants that can affect production or research. If you recall the term ‘lab conditions’ from science classes, it’s a similar theory, just on a much larger and stricter scale.
For the environment to be ‘clean’, just being free from dust and bacteria isn’t enough. In many cases the humidity and temperature levels are just as important to get right.
If your cleanroom is being used for scientific research, you’ll often be using compounds that need to be stored in specific conditions for preservation. Once they are removed, the clock is ticking to study and/or use them.
To maximise the time they have to work with, scientists use cleanroom laboratories that prevent volatile compounds from degrading or changing sooner than they need to. Some chemicals can be ruined if the air temperature is even a single degree too high, or if it is slightly too humid.
Simply sealing the doors and hoping for the best isn’t effective. Cleanrooms need to be sophisticated.
Cleanrooms use advanced systems that control the air quality, humidity, and temperature. The best use industrial dehumidifiers that have built-in air filtration systems, that can either recycle the air inside the cleanroom or clean air brought in from the outside.
Once the ideal environment has been achieved, the room is sealed until work is completed. Workers will usually wear decontaminated clothing, masks, and cleanroom gloves to prevent any pollutants from entering the room.
During the workday, temperatures and humidity levels fluctuate naturally. Unless this is compensated for, the cleanroom won’t maintain the correct conditions. Most high-end cleanrooms have systems that monitor the environment and adjust accordingly, and many that need manual adjustments come will alert workers so they can make the necessary changes.
Most ‘ideal’ cleanroom conditions are within acceptable windows and aren’t exact temperatures or humidity levels. This allows these factors to fluctuate naturally, but without ruining the work being done.
There is a lot to consider when it comes to cleanrooms. They’re much more than just a cool room that is sealed from the outside.
Their size can vary greatly too. Sometimes only a small facility is needed for specific R&D, where as some fill entire warehouses and are in use for 12 hours a day. No matter what you need your cleanrooms for, we can help you design one or more than will help you soar past your competitors.
If you choose an ‘off-the-shelf’ cleanroom solution, you’ll spend more time and money adapting your facilities to it than actually using it to boost your business. Even if you have used cleanrooms in the past, the new one may need power supply and ventilation systems that don’t suit you. If you are changing your cleanrooms, this is downtime that will greatly affect your bottom line.
Unlike other suppliers, we meet with you to establish your exact needs and assess the space you have to work with. That way we can create a bespoke cleanroom solution that is perfect for you, your team, and the work you need the cleanroom for.
With decades of experience across dozens of industries, we’ve created cleanrooms for every application. This knowledge, paired with an in-depth understanding of your business, gives us the confidence to create the perfect cleanrooms, and ensure you have the foundations to make the most out of them.
Cleanrooms are all about safety. The environment needs to be perfect not just for productivity, but to ensure everything that leaves your facility is safe for consumers.
Theses strict requirements are set in stone by governing bodies. Every cleanroom needs to be rigorously tested to ensure it is compliant. This testing covers the following:
All industries have different testing methods and are looking for an exact level of quality. With experience in every sector, we can guarantee that your cleanrooms will be fully compliant and are high enough quality to pass years of inspections.
But that isn’t all. We’ll design your cleanrooms with a much bigger picture in mind.
ISO 14644 is the international standard for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments. Part 1 details the classification of air cleanliness by particle concentration.
GMP Annex 1 details the permitted particles at rest and in operation. The at rest limits correspond to ISO Classes.
We have experiencing designing ISO 8,7& 6 Cleanrooms as well as Sterile suites and GMP compliant facilities and designs.
Sustainable Cleanroom Solutions
As you can imagine, cleanrooms need a lot of energy to work at their best. However, if they are designed with sustainability in mind, this cost can be minimised, and ensure your cleanrooms aren’t harmful to the environment.
Our cleanrooms use renewable energy wherever possible, helping to keep your carbon footprint low. No matter the industry, this is something every business has to keep in mind and work hard to offset. With our systems, you can save money and also help to save the environment with no loss of output.
The materials used to construct cleanrooms makes a difference too. We only use the best available, but without asking you to break the bank.
This makes your cleanroom not only sustainable: but fully future proof. No excess heat is lost, and systems won’t wear out, even after years of continuous use.
Everything we construct is built to last. There are no cut corners and no hidden costs. We stay within budget and keep you in the loop at all times. Once your cleanroom is up and running, our work doesn’t stop there. We provide training and resources so you can make the most of your systems, giving you and your team the confidence to work well from day one. And if you have any questions or concerns, we’re only a phone call away.
3D building information and modelling helps us to design your facility. We use 3D point cloud surveys and the latest Autodesk software to build 3D environments with all the architectural elements modelled, alongside the mechanical and electrical systems to ensure clash free, optimal design. We can also perform CFD Airflow modelling to demonstrate that air-flow patterns to not present a contamination risk between different areas.
